============================================ Since the year 2000 we are developing a pilot project entitled: "Mathematical Education for Architects".
________ The main idea underlying this project is to give a special "architectural" point of view on Mathematics. We don''t use any long proofs or calculations. An account is based on visual and geometrical presentation and also upon images of arts, culture, and nature and even upon modes of life. The special attention of students is attracted to original beauty of all constructions of mathematics, to the harmony all of its forms and structures. The recommendations for application of mathematical methods are given at solving of some designing problems.
_____________The project consists of three lecture cycles:
1) The cycle entitled MATHEMATICAL BASES OF ARCHITECURAL COMPOSITION
covers subjects such as:
- Mathematics of Architecture and architectonic of Mathematics;
- Architectural theory of sets;
- The concept of Space in Mathematics and Architecture;
- Lines and surfaces in Mathematics and Architecture;
2) The cycle
on the HISTORY of MATHEMATICS in ARCHITECURAL RETROSPECTIVE traces the development and mutual influence of both disciplines from their arising till our time.
3) The cycle MATHEMATICAL PRINCIPLES OF ORGANISATION OF ARCHITECURAL ENVIRONVMENT covers subjects such as:
- Architectural theory of graphs ;
- Beauty of fractals;
- Symmetry in Mathematics and Architecture;
- Mathematics in Nature, Science, Arts and Architecture.
_______ On every lesson students try to transfer abstract mathematical ideas and formulas into images of Architecture, Design, Nature and so on. And they do it with pleasure. As we use computer''s technologies (Internet, Power Point and others).
______ Except of Moscow Architecture Institute now the course is being given in some Moscow''s and regional Russian architectural schools.
